We Found Wonderland: An Art Journal Layout

Today I have an art journal layout to share. Something different as I never post them. I find that they're so hard to capture in a picture and you don't get the same affect as seeing it in person. But I thought I'd give it a go. Art journaling is my favourite thing to do. I can't keep a regular journal for the life of me, but I find that when I have something on my mind, I put it into an art journal instead.

This one was relatively quick and easy. I started by placing the letter masks into this particular phrase. (Which is from Taylor Swifts, Wonderland, if you wondering) Then I added gesso to my page with an old gift card and left some parts blank so it was rough and uneven. Then I took various mists and misted the entire page, including water and a shimmer spray. And that's all the background was. As hard as it was I left it alone and let it air dry instead of using my heat gun. I find the colors stay a lot more vibrant and natural when you do this. Then I removed the letters.
Then I took a stencil and some embossing paste and added it to various areas of the page. I grabbed random embellishments from my stash (which all happened to be from Recollections so I can't link to any of it. ) and adhered them down with a glue gun.

And that was it! Super easy and not a lot of steps, but a very bold and striking outcome. The background reminds me of space. With  shimmer and so much depth. I was so happy with how this turned out!
